Cranberry Resort Wedding | Jen and Adam
“The grooms face the first time he sees the bride. This is probably the most important moment we would like captured!!”
This was the first thing Jen wrote as one of the most important details I had to photograph on the questionnaire I sent out weeks before their wedding at the Cranberry Resort in Collingwood. I always look forward to photographing weddings anyway but each time I learn about the likelihood of the groom being emotional, my excitement level peaks up a bit higher.
I started their coverage with the guys getting ready. Adam and his groomsmen have known each other and have been friends since they were children. There were some teasing and bantering of the groom from his groomsmen that morning — which was all good natured and typical for men who have been friends for so long. It’s pretty cool to see that kind of friendship endure.
After the groom’s coverage, I headed a few floors down to the bride’s suite where Jen and her bridesmaids got dressed. Their room was identical to the guys — modern and sleek. The vibe was a little different though. Where the guys were more relaxed, the ladies were more … electric. I can’t really find the right adjective, but I just felt an exciting energy while I photographed them. Like butterflies-in-the-stomach-because-my-friend-is-marrying-the-man-she-loves kind of way. And I could tell how much each of the bridesmaids cared for Jen. They attended to every detail to help make Jen and Adam’s wedding day the way they had planned.
Jen and Adam’s ceremony was held at the Cranberry Resort, a gorgeous venue surrounded by the lake and abound with willow trees. There’s something romantic about branches of willow trees swaying in the breeze (*I’m swaying as I write this post just thinking of willow trees.) Adam waited under the arbour for her, looking calm at first. But the moment he saw her walking down the aisle, his eyes began to water. And then tears started to pour. Jen was right all along.
Here are a few moments from their wedding day!
