Happy 2017! | Fitness Goals | Personal Story

Happy 2017 everyone! Hope you all had a fantastic Holiday Season and is now looking forward to the new year.

I know new year resolutions are very much cliched. But I do know that writing your goals down is the first step to committing yourself to change. So, to make myself accountable to my goals, here are a few fitness goals that I’m looking forward to achieve this 2017.

1.) Stay running consistenly.

Before I became a wedding photographer, I was a consistent runner. But as I got busy especially at the peak of wedding seasons throughout the years, my motivation to run gradually decreased, then eventually stopped running altogether two years ago. Since then, I had tried a several times to get back into running to no avail.

Until I found the 5K Runner app last summer. With this app, I got myself running again.  I even feel that I’m now a faster runner than when I was in my 20’s! So my goal this year is to keep running consistently, about 3-4 times a week. And after running consistently for the whole 2017, I’ll think about running a marathon for 2018.

2.)  Add strength training to my routine.

Unfortunately, I am one those people who owns a gym membership but don’t actually use it. Even if my home GoodLife is only a 3-minute drive away from my house. My excuse is that I have a treadmill at home and a few Beachbody DVDs around that I can do. But I keep the membership anyway “just in case”. Like if our water heater breaks and I need to shower. Or use their massage chairs. Theirs is actually pretty good.

Yeah, it’s a waste of hard-earned money. So for 2017, I’m planning on actually using it at least once a week. I do need to build muscle because ribs ain’t cute.  Plus, I just want to do something good for my body while I’m still relatively young. I do have The Women’s Health Big Book of Exercises so I’m planning on using their workouts as reference.

3.) Abs for days.

Not going to lie, I’m laughing at myself for even putting this one out in public. But having cut abs is something I’ve always wanted but never actually had the guts(ha!) to pursue. So by publishing this for the whole internet to see, will hopefully drive me to stick to my words and do the work. My plan is to do 10-20 minutes of ab workout 3-4 times a week. There’s a ton of YouTube videos out there to try like this one from Blogilates by Cassey Ho. So instead of me messing around on Mobile Strike, I’ll do my abs instead.

So there you go! What are your fitness goals for 2017? Write it down the comments below. I would love to hear from you!
