November Wedding in Kitchener | Amy and Steve
If I have to define November weddings in general using just one word, it would be unpredictable. There have been weddings when the weather was “perfect” Fall wise — relatively cool but still sunny so outdoor photos were tolerable. There have been times when it snowed. And if it didn’t snow, it rained. So if you’re planning to get married in November in Ontario, having an indoor photo location is a must. Because, you just never know.
With the unpredictability of November, for Amy and Steve’s wedding, I knew at least one thing for sure. Amy is one of the Miller sisters. I have photographed two of her other sisters weddings before ( Kristy and Tracy). Based on my experience from both weddings, I knew Amy and Steve’s wedding was going to be fun regardless of what Mother Nature had in store.
And that was good because it rained buckets on their wedding day!
My day started with Steve and his groomsmen at his home in Kitchener. Steve and his groomsmen have all been friends since high school. There’s a saying that goes “boys will be boys”that I think applies pretty much to what transpired that morning. It’s quite nice to see enduring friendships like theirs. They’ve all been very helpful in making sure that Amy and Steve’s wedding day went according to plan.
After Steve’s coverage, I drove up to Waterloo to Amy’s parents’ home where she and her bridesmaids got ready. That’s where I also got to meet one of the newest members of their family, Amy’s niece, Audrey. She made the most adorable facial expression!
They had their wedding ceremony at St Michael’s Church in Waterloo. Steve and his son Zac, who also was his Best Man, waited at the altar for Amy. I loved how when Amy walked down the aisle, Steve teared up as Zac looked on happily at his father. And when they exchanged vows, Zac was part of that too. Amy and Steve’s wedding is not just about them. It’s also about the three of them becoming a family.
For their portraits, Amy and Steve, their wedding party and families, all headed to Kingpin bowling alley. It’s a great place for a fun photo location. There’s space big enough for large groups.Though I did have to find the right angles to minimize distractions in the background, Kingpin provided a cool experience for everyone. Those who were not being photographed could bowl or munch on appetizers with a beverage of their own choice.
Here are a few images from their wedding day!
