Tiffany and Kevin | Engagement Session in Etobicoke

When I pulled over on the street in front of Tiffany and Kevin’s house for our first meeting back in the fall of last year, I saw both of them sitting in the front porch. They were chatting and just enjoying their evening together. I was twenty minutes earlier than our agreed time and being a socially awkward person that I am didn’t know what to do next. Should I stay in the car where they could fully see me? That would make me look creepy really. Or should I go up and introduce myself and just…impose? Either way, I thought it wouldn’t make for a good first impression. I was screwed.

I didn’t have to make a decision that night though. Kevin noticed me parked in front of their house and he hurriedly came down their porch smiling. He warmly greeted me. “You must be Lyn, how are you? Come inside!”

That night, Kevin saved me from embarassing myself.

Inside, I was greeted by their little guy, Dante who wasn’t very shy at all. Tiffany offered me a cup of ginger tea (which was delicious by the way) and we started talking about their wedding. They were going to get married at their church not too far from their home and their wedding reception was going to be held at the Old Mill in Toronto. What touched me the most during our meeting was when Kevin became teary talking about what it would be like watching Tiffany walk down the aisle on their wedding day.

I fell in love with their family that very moment. I knew then that I wanted to photograph Tiffany and Kevin’s wedding.

I was deeply honoured when they chose me as their wedding photographer that week.

They live in a pretty charming neighbourhood in Etobicoke so we decided to shoot their engagement session around there. And because their son Dante is a huge part in their life together, it only made sense to bring him along with us.

Photographing kids is a lot different from just shooting typical engagement session. I don’t get to act really silly or growl like a tiger when I’m with adults. That just wouldn’t fly.

Here are a few images from their engagement session in Etobicoke.
