Waterstone Estate and Farm Fall Wedding | Laura and James

Speeches. Wedding speeches in particular. It’s the best part of the wedding reception if you ask me. You get to hear stories about the bride and groom you might not have known otherwise. Most speeches are entertaining. The really good ones are laugh out loud hilarious. But the best ones are endearing.

Speeches show a glimpse of the kind of relationships the speakers have with the couple. Take Richard’s speech for example. He was Laura and James’ best man at his wedding at Waterstone Estate and Farm. Richard told the story of when he first met Laura. You see, Richard had a sick tree in their backyard he’d like to save. He heard from his best friend, James, that the woman he was currently seeing worked in Forestry. Her name was Laura.

Of course he was excited to meet this Laura James had gushed about. But he was also looking forward to get a professional advice about what to do with his tree. And so when did they meet, he asked.

And Laura’s solution?

Cut it down.

Laura and James are the kind of people with a great sense of humour so it only made sense that their friends share the same one too. Which made our job so much easier as photographers. Especially since Mother Nature failed to cooperate with us that day. It helped that everyone was in great spirits, regardless of how cold or windy it was outdoors!
