Geraldo’s At La Salle Park Wedding | Breanne and Jameson
Breanne and Jameson’s had their wedding last summer at Geraldo’s located at La Salle Park in Burlington, Ontario. My coverage for their wedding began at the Waterfront Hotel in Burlington where both Breanne and Jameson and their out of town guests stayed for the wedding. Breanne and Jameson are both born and raised in Saskatchewan so most of their families flew or drove to Ontario to attend their wedding.
I started with Jameson and his groomsmen first as they got themselves dressed for the big day. Jameson’s best man, Adam, kept the guys in line with the schedule. It was quite endearing to see him organize as much as he could to give his best friend a stress free wedding experience.
While the guys got ready, Jameson’s mom, Cheryl, was in another room right beside theirs. She sat by the glass-covered desk as she wrote on a card she would give her only son later that morning. I don’t know what Cheryl wrote inside, but after Jameson read the card, he gave his mother a huge hug.
After Jameson and his groomsmen got dressed, I took them outside of their hotel at the Waterfront Trail. I wanted to take advantage of Brant Street Pier’s modern design for their portraits as a group. The pier is a popular attraction at Spencer Smith Park so we had to wait until there were not a lot of people in the background before we could take photos. Although there was one image I took of them where the people behind them added to the composition. It was all good in the end.
Once I was done Jameson’s coverage, I went back to the hotel to begin with Breanne’s. Breanne was just finishing up her hair and makeup by the ladies of Pretty In Pink Mobile Makeup when I got there. She’s already a beautiful woman to begin with, but having her hair and makeup professionally done enhanced what she already got. She looked stunning.
Breanne and Jameson are both fans of the Saskatchewan Roughriders and they wanted to incorporate that part of themselves by choosing green as their main wedding colour complimented by deep purple. Breanne’s rhinestone encrusted heeled shoes were died green, and her bouquet from Blooms and Posies consisted of purple flowers. As part of their Saskatchewah heritage as well, they included wheat stalks from their family’s farm in their wedding bouquets and bouttonieres. I thought that was such a nice touch.
When Breanne was ready for her Reveal with her father Terry, I placed her back facing the window thinking that her father would have the good light when I photograph his expression. He did get good light but the drawback from that was that the window was too bright, he didn’t even see his daughter when I asked him to open his eyes. He had to reposition himself a couple of steps to the right to see her clearly. When he did see his little girl dressed as a bride, his expression was priceless.
After I finished with Breanne and her bridesmaids, I drove ahead to Geraldo’s at La Salle Park. Geraldo’s all white exterior, great pillars, and stairs made me think of Gatsby’s house from the Great Gatsby movie somehow. Not the Baz Luhrman version, but the one with Robert Redford and Mia Farrow from the 70’s. It was a charming venue to say the least.
Guests have already started to arrive when I got there. What caught my eye was the arbour made of birch tree branches decorated by purple flowers on top. Cheryl mentioned that Jameson and his father Wayne built the arbour from scratch.
She also told the story of how she and her husband Wayne almost got in trouble because of the arbour. They saw an interesting arbour design when they were driving around in the countryside one day and saw they stopped their car to look closer. They rang the bell to ask permission to take look at the arbour but no one was there to receive them. So they decided to just take pictures of it. However, the owner of the house arrived on his driveway in his truck as Cheryl and Wayne were taking notes and photos. He was not happy to see what he saw, even when Cheryl politely explained what they were doing.
Now that to me showed how much they love Breanne and Jameson. They’d do anything just so their son could have a beautiful wedding to celebrate the union of their families with Breanne’s.
When the time did finally come when Breanne walked down the aisle accompanied by both her parents. I couldn’t forget how emotional her mother Laureen became. Throughout the morning, Laureen was all calm and collected, happily taking her own photos of the girls getting ready here and there. I guess it didn’t hit her until she gave Breanne away.
Right after the ceremony, we proceeded with family formals that was then followed by portraits at La Salle Park. Breanne and Jameson also booked The Art Gallery of Burlington as a backup location in case it rained. Since we had plenty of time left before their reception, we had time to get a few portraits done there as well.
Breanne and Jameson were also avid Ultimate Frisbee players and so were a lot of their friends. When we got back to Geraldo’s from the Art Gallery of Burlington, some of their friends tossed frisbees in their suits and cocktail dresses. Even when it was over 30 C then, it looked as if they were having fun.
At their wedding reception, I have to say that one of the most lively bride and groom entrance I’ve ever seen was that of Breanne and Jameson’s. They got the energy of their guests up and going once they stepped onto the dance floor. The crowd cheered, stomped their feet, twirled their green napkins in the air. Breanne and Jameson rocked it!
Here are a few photos from their wonderful day!
