Apple Orchard Fall Engagement Session | Deborah and Mike

I had the pleasure of photographing Deborah and Mike’s engagement session last October. Deborah wanted a Fall theme for their session and so we decided to have theirs done at an apple orchard. Martin’s Apple Farm located in St. Jacob’s were kind enough to let us use their land for their early morning session.

Even though frost pretty much covered everything at the apple orchard, and we could see our breaths condense in the air that morning, the cold didn’t stop them from having a good time. I loved watching them interact with each other. Mike was a little shy at first but Deborah got him to loosen up with her infectious laugh. The one thing the cold weather did good though was it did encourage them to cuddle a lot and keep each other warm. Although I think even without the cold, they would have still done that.

Having an engagement session done very early in the morning (I believe we started at 7:30 am) has its unique advantages. Most important of all, the light. The light from the sun gives you that golden glow which you’ll see in the first couple of photographs below. That golden glow just makes everything look pretty and romantic. Perfect for an engagement session. And second, there won’t be that many people around early in the morning. It’s just going to be  me and the two of you. Quite an intimate setting, once you get used to me directing you :) .

Even though waking up early may sound tedious, I think it’s best to schedule an engagement session at sunrise if the location you want will be littered with people during the day. Especially if you’re conscious about having people watch you get photographed.
