James and Cathy | Premiere Ballroom and Convention Centre Wedding
I’ve been in the business for a long time. I’ve photographed a lot of couples, heard many of their stories. They are not all the same but once in a while, a few stories stand out.
I first introduced Cathy and James on the blog when I featured a few of their engagement photos taken at Puddicombe Farms. James and Cathy originally planned to have a second wedding in China so that Cathy’s parents could partake in their celebrations. James knew how much Cathy’s parents meant to her. And so with the help of Cathy’s friend, he reached out to her parents and asked them if they would like to attend their Canadian wedding, all expense paid. It was going to be a surprise for Cathy.
On the day her parents were scheduled to arrive in Toronto, James asked Cathy to accompany him to the airport to pick up his relatives flying from Hong Kong. As people started coming out of the gate, Cathy noticed a woman from afar and told James that that lady looked like her mom. And the man walking beside her looked like her dad. That’s when she realized that she was looking at her parents!
I had an amazing time with Cathy and James’s wedding last July. From the door games James and his groomsmen had to suffer through that morning, to their beautiful ceremony, to their sumptuous meal at Premiere Ballroom and Convention Centre, to the most heartfelt speeches that evening. It was truly a memorable wedding.
Here are a few images from their day.
