Blue Dress, Three Ways

I’ve owned this blue dress for possibly ten years. Back in the day, my husband and I went to Vegas a couple of times a year. In the Spring for the WPPI photography conference, and sometimes in the Fall for a short vacation. In one of those trips, I found this dress at the massive H&M in The Shops at the Coliseum.

I bought the dress, and for the last ten years, has only been worn a couple of times.

I rediscovered it and thought, I should try styling it three ways!

Sporty

Red and blue go well together. So, I paired this with a thrifted red turtleneck from Talize. I also have the penchant for owning colourful sneakers so, I brought out my red sneakers to match. Had I own a pair of white soccer socks with red stripes, I would love this look even more. But as it is, I think it looks pretty cool!

Monochrome

The easiest way to wear colour is to do it head-to-toe. The technical term, if you want to sound like an expert, is monochrome. I have another blue H&M sweater from their 2018 Spring Conscious Collection so I wore that overtop of the dress. No blue shoes for me though, but I love the idea of a strappy, gladiator nude sandal to go along with the outfit. The silhouette of this outfit is admittedly may not be flattering for some people. But I see it as unconventional and fresh.

Rocker Chic

You can pair any bright colour with a neutral to tone it down. In this case, I chose this black 80’s cropped jacket I got from Value Village. I had to alter it a bit — ripped the curtain tassels and the pseudo-vest within it — and I like how it turned out. I still need to chuck the heart shape zipper pulle, which you can’t see in this picture, before wearing it out in public. For the shoes, my well-loved Zara platform boots with socks. I can’t wait for Spring to rock this outfit. Not that I go out a lot. I’ll more likely end up wearing this grocery shopping.
