My Favourite Apps for the iPhone 2014 Edition

I love my phone. I mean, I do use it to call and text, but what I use it the most for is nothing related to why phones are invented in the first place. I love my phone for the apps.

Here are my favourites!

Rdio

For only $14.99 US a month, you get access hundreds of songs from various artists either through your computer or through your mobile phone. If I need to get household chores done, I just look for soundtracks from action/adventure movies and Rdio has it. If I feel the need to sing, I just look for Journey albums and Rdio have those too. It also has stations you can browse through classified based the type of mood and genre. It even remembers your play history so it gives you recommendations on similar artists that you might be interested in! $14.99 a month may sound steep but I find that I save more money paying for the subscription instead of buying every song I want on iTunes. I love it.

Instagram

I like not to have to read through people’s dramas on Facebook so recently, I’ve just been hanging out more on Instagram. I’m drawn to visual imagery to begin with so Instagram is the perfect social media tool for me. Currently, my Instagram feed is full of huskies, other dogs, and beauty bloggers because at the moment, I’m interested in the kinds of looks they’re creating. As a side note, I’ve recently discovered beauty YouTubers and I like listening to them talk while editing on the computer. Working from home can be a little lonely sometimes so listening to YouTubersI is like having another girlfriend talking to you.

I don’t blog very often about my personal life (because, my life is pretty boring, nobody really wants to read about it) but I do post photos on Instagram so if you’re interested in getting to know me more, follow me!

Next Issue

Magazine clutter used to be a problem of mine but not anymore! Similar to Rdio, Next Issue is also a monthly subscription of $14.99 that allows you access to more than a hundred magazine titles. I love my magazines — Allure, Vogue, Marie Claire just to name a few. I draw inspirations from editorials as well so instead tearing each page that I find inspiring like I used to, I just quickly do a screenshot and pin it on Pinterest for easy access.

Newsify

Aside from reading magazines, I read a variety of blogs as well. Newsify curates all the blog feeds I follow into one app and it makes it easy for me to get updates for new articles I might find interesting. Currently, my favourite blog to follow is Karen from theĀ Makeup and Beauty Blog. There aren’t that many beauty bloggers out there like her, who is also of Filipino heritage. She basically has the same skin tone as I do so I like seeing how she wears new products out in the market because if it works for her, it’ll work for me. Plus, Karen makes me laugh!

Google Maps

My GPS gets wonky sometimes so before I leave my house, I check Google Maps so I get a sense of direction to where I’m supposed to be going. Google Maps App most useful feature I find is the real time traffic ETA it gives you. You can check out in advance what roads should be avoided so you don’t get to your destination late. Another great thing this app does is the streetview feature. Very useful when scouting for new locations.

LightTrac

Light is everything in photography and this app helps me figure out where it will be. This app tracks the sun from the moment it rises to the time it sets, and it also tells you it’s angle in relation to the horizon at any particular time and date. Perfect for any photographer trying to creat a gameplan for an outdoor shoot.

So there you go! Let me know what your favourite apps are in the Comments section below. I’m always interested in finding new apps to try!
