Grey Silo Wedding | Deborah and Mike
When I first met Deborah to discuss her Grey Silo wedding to her fiance, Mike, I was immediately drawn to her vivacity. Her voice inflection, how her eyes lit up as she talked about Mike, how her hand gestures animated the stories she told. She was enthralling to say the least. I swear she can make the most mundane topic sound interesting.
What really got me excited to shoot her wedding in Grey Silo, aside for the fact that it’s a beautiful venue in Waterloo, was how fondly she talked about their family. Naturally, she wanted her wedding to be beautiful. But that’s not as important as making sure that they get to invite all the important people in their lives. They wanted to make sure that they get to share their wedding with the people they love. Then and there, I knew right away that we would make a great fit.
Although Deborah and Mike’s wedding day was the rainiest June wedding I’ve ever had to photograph (~45mm of rain dropped that day), shooting it was a wedding photojournalist’s dream. Like Deborah, her family are as passionate as her and as emotional as she was. Their friends that formed their wedding party were among the easiest bunch I had worked with. Most stylish one too, I say. And lastly, Deborah and Mike themselves can make each other smile so effortlessly I didn’t have to come up with silly jokes to make them do so.
I also have to add, I really enjoy photographing the dance party at wedding receptions. Having a good DJ to bring your party come to life is extremely important, just how Mark Caravaggio of DJ Charlie Clean delivered at Deborah and Mike’s wedding.
Here are a few images from Deborah and Mike’s wedding in Grey Silo.
