Harbourfront Engagement Session | Jennifer and Troy

How many weather apps do you have in your phone? One? Two? When weather dictates your work’s situation like mine, you’ll probably have something like five. Well, not that I speak for everyone, and to be honest, maybe it’s just me, but I weather watch several days before my scheduled sessions so I know what to advise my clients. Ideally, our location would be somewhere you can do both indoor and outdoor. If they’re set on doing outdoors, I would suggest rescheduling the session if three out of the five weather apps I have predict more than 60% chance of rain the day before.

You’re probably asking yourself now, why the heck am I talking about weather apps? This post is about an engagement session. A Harbourfront engagement session to be exact.

I’ll get to that. It’ll make sense, trust me.

Jennifer and Troy first met at the Harbourfront several years ago when Troy spotted Jennifer in a crowd at an event that he helped organized. He tried to  get her number. Jennifer said no, and was not interested in him at all. It took Troy three separate occasions where they’ve bumped into each other again in the city before Jennifer finally gave him a chance. Persistence pays in Troy’s case.

Because the Harboufront played a significant role on their paths crossing, Jennifer and Troy wanted their session done there in the summertime when place really comes to life. We scheduled their session one summer weeknight at 5pm. All my weather apps said it would have been a cloudy day. But as soon as 5 pm came, so did the rain. And lots of it.

We waited for half an hour to see if it was just a passing rain. The weather apps still said it was going to be cloudy the rest of the evening so we clung on to that hope. But that hope was not enough to blow the rain away.

So I told them that it’s going to be ok, we can just do some indoor shots. There were plenty of interesting indoor spots in the area if you just look.  It was not what they had in mind, but we made the most out of what we had. I figured, if they’re not happy, we can always do a re-shoot. But turns out, their images ended up to be one of my most favourite sessions last year! It also helped that Jennifer and Troy had that sultry vibe going on!

Here are a few images from their engagement session!
