Day In The Life

The Ng Family: Day In The Life Session II | Toronto Family Photojournalist

It has been a couple of years since shooting my first Day In The Life Session with the Ng family. They were the first whom I had the privilege of documenting a typical day in their life together. I wanted to shoot something different than a wedding. And I was lucky enough that Melodie and Dave have welcomed me in their home and photograph them as a family photojournalist.

Fast forward to two years after their first session with me, Melodie reached out to me again. They now have a third child and they would like to  photos of their family while their youngest is still a baby.

As much as I love documenting weddings, I find that Day In The Life Sessions more rewarding. Kids don’t stay small forever. My husband and I don’t have human children. But we do have three nephews whom we’ve watched grow over the years. It didn’t seem that long ago that they were all excited about Christmas. I still remember that one Christmas morning when I woke up to one them breathing down on us, eagerly waiting for us to get up so they could start opening their presents.

Nowadays, all three of them are now taller than me. The eldest one is in University and the other two teenage boys would casually talk about pretty girls from school at the dinner table. Time did flow really quick for those three.

Stopping time is a luxury we don’t have. But as a family photojournalist, I can certainly freeze those moments for you to remember them by.

For Melodie and Dave’s 2nd Day In The Life Session with me, we set up a date when they put up their tree. It was fun watching them decorate and get excited about Christmas. And I also couldn’t help but marvel at how beautiful Melodie and Dave’s family have become. Their eldest son has grown into the most patient big brother to his siblings, their daughter, the happiest little girl you’ll ever meet. And their youngest, the only baby I’ve noted to have an independent spirit. Melodie and Dave have done a great job raising their young family.

Here are a few images from their session!
