Columbus Event Centre Wedding | Toni and Luisa

Some of my most memorable moments at a reception happened at Toni and Luisa’s Columbus Event Centre wedding in June last year.  I just love to feel the energy in the room when a couple and their guests have an amazing time on the dance floor.

Columbus Event Centre is located in North York and is home to Joseph D. Carrier Art Gallery. If you are looking for a unique and airy space, something modern with clean lines, then you should check out Columbus Event Centre. It was the perfect setting for Toni and Luisa’s colourful wedding.

This wasn’t Toni and Luisa’s first time getting  married to each other. Two weeks before, they had their first ceremony in Colombia where most of Luisa’s family reside. Their wedding in Canada is for Toni’s family and friends who were not able to join them in Colombia. But even if this was their second time round, their emotions on marrying each other still bubbled up when they exchanged vows.

Before heading to their reception at Columbia Event Centre after their ceremony, we stopped first at Evergreen Brick Works for their wedding portraits. Luisa’s Maid of Honour was her sister, who primarily spoke Spanish. Toni’s Best Man was his childhood friend who mainly spoke Croatian and German. So it was a little challenging for me to give directions during portraits. One language we do have in common is humour. Once I figured that out, we got along quite well!

Finally at their reception, I think several factors came together that allowed the Party Gods to shine their light on Toni and Luisa’s party. First, they hired The Toronto Party Band. They got the party started. Second, Toni and Luisa brought along some props — feather boas, floral leis, sunglasses, etc. Age didn’t matter as everyone young and old loved those props. And lastly, an open bar. I don’t think I need to elaborate on that.

When everyone on the dance floor is having fun, so will I. Needless to say, Toni and Luisa’s wedding at the Columbus Event Centre was one of my favourites.
