Small Moments Matter
People sometime assume that because I’m a wedding photographer, I’d have a high expectation on how my own photographs with my husband looks. To some extent, that’s true. I wouldn’t want photos that are blurry or underexposed. I’d like to receive photos that are more or less the same quality as the ones I deliver to my clients. We’ve had our photos done professionally throughout the years, maybe every 2-3 years or so (see here and here). My husband hates having his pictures taken that I need to give him space in between sessions just to make the experience more bearable for him. To be fair, he didn’t marry a…

Toronto Documentary Family Photographer | The Ng Family
Ever since I’ve done the Foundation Workshop last year and saw images from my fellow attendees whose assignments involved families, I’ve been wanting to try and document a day in a family’s life as a personal project. First because I wanted to practice what I learned outside of weddings. And second, I am curious. I was raised by my Mom and my Aunt, so the role of fathers in raising children is something I am not familiar with. My husband and I have no kids so raising a family is all foreign to me. Melodie, my friend from school years ago reached out to me last summer to see if…

Favourite YouTube Channels | Personal Story
Lately, I’ve been watching/listening to YouTube channels more when I’m working on wedding/engagement photographs for my clients. My office is upstairs so I don’t have access to TV. There’s not much to watch on daytime TV anyway (aside for reruns of What Not To Wear). I have access to Netflix on my iPad but I find that sometimes I get too interested in the show that I forget that I need to work. With YouTube, I get to listen and if there’s something interesting, I just can glance at what they’re describing. It makes me more productive in the end. Here are my top 5 YouTube channels to watch/listen. Mishka…

My Favourite Apps for the iPhone 2014 Edition
I love my phone. I mean, I do use it to call and text, but what I use it the most for is nothing related to why phones are invented in the first place. I love my phone for the apps. Here are my favourites! Rdio For only $14.99 US a month, you get access hundreds of songs from various artists either through your computer or through your mobile phone. If I need to get household chores done, I just look for soundtracks from action/adventure movies and Rdio has it. If I feel the need to sing, I just look for Journey albums and Rdio have those too. It…

Driving in Cars with Boo
I need to get my car detailed soon. Why? Because my dog Bella Boo loves to go on car rides. Our other dog, Norman…not so much. But one dog, especially a husky-cross breed, is enough to cover the entire backseat with white fluffy hair. She sheds. A lot. If I had cloned every single piece of hair from her, the world would be dominated by copies of the dainty, blue-eyed, diva named Boo. Even though she sheds a lot, and makes wearing dark colours a little bit challenging — which is pretty much 80% of my wardrobe — I still bring her with me at every opportunity I get. I like…
